the plywood entertainer

This plywood kitchen wall is part of a larger entertaining room having panoramic windows out to the coastline.

The kitchen cabinets were given a low odour paint whitewash to achieve a limed effect and the lack of door handles helped the kitchen to virtually disappear onto the wall (push to open, soft-close door hinges were used). This was reinforced with the use of sliding doors to hide the appliances in a smaller sub kitchen.

The same plywood detailing was applied to the bathroom vanities and in other parts of the house, providing continuity throughout.
