Tim Bale in action
We are a family business of three (plus a little watchdog).
Paul and Kim Bale initially trained in design and illustration completing degrees in the beautiful, rugged county of Cornwall in England.
Having set themselves in the design and illustration industry; Paul into technical illustration, Kim into publishing, they came together in England to form a very successful design and illustration studio, Visual Image. At the fore-front of technology they soon became known for their capabilities of meeting tight deadlines on complex projects. Their business expanded and continued for more than fifteen years. But as technology moved on apace they both yearned for a more hands-on approach.
Kim, who had enjoyed woodwork at school completed college-based study and proceeded to train as furniture maker. Paul, after an initial period of training, worked for Michael Scott, helping him to complete bespoke pieces of contemporary furniture.
On moving to Australia, Paul and Kim had already decided to
re-train in Australian timbers. Taking their wealth of design skills and burgeoning making skills, they enrolled in the School of Fine Furniture in Dwellingup, WA. Their designs immediately led to a variety of commissions and full-time work in cabinet and furniture making.
Cabinet-making on the super yacht Alcanara, completing whole interiors of furniture and cabinetry and, undertaking public commissions like the St John of God Hospital Chapel furniture are just a few examples.
Tim Bale is the latest member, bringing with him mathematical and practical skills that are enabling him to make and finish cabinetry on time to high quality. As an integral element to Bale & Bale he has been expanding the portfolio to include personalised kitchen and bathroom projects; which are already producing excellent results.
